Description

M53 is a globular cluster in Coma Berenices. It is estimated to be around 58,400 light-years away and is 220 light years wide. It was first discovered by Johann Elert Bode in 3 February 1775 and was observed by Messier on 26 February 1777.

M53 was imaged from our home observatory between 21 and 26 April 2020

Telescope: Sky-Watcher Esprit 120 ED

Camera: Moravian G2-8300

Filters: Baader RGB

Mount: Mesu 200

Red: 39 x 300 s

Green: 39 x 300 s

Blue: 39 x 300s

A total of 9 hours and 45 minutes exposure
